The Maggies are dipoles, so they cancel out bass waves from their edges, including the ceiling. I ran a room mode calculator and it looks fairly good. http://www.bobgolds.com/Mode/RoomModes.htm
You may want to place a couple 2 inch sonex pads on the ceiling between the speakers and your listening position, using the mirror-method. In large rooms the bass modes are actually further apart than in small rooms. Additionally, the fundamental nodes are of a lower frequency. Your 23ft dimension has a fundamental node at 15 Hz: much lower than the Maggies can reproduce or your ears can really hear.
You you should be in great shape with either model you choose. I have 1.6's in a 22ft x 22ft x 11ft room. They sound incredible ( 67 tube traps do help. These dimensions are a theoretical nightmare !).
