RE: IF You own 20.1's and you biamp

Magic maggie smoke is what comes out of the bass amplifier.

I was trying out a bass heavy balance like the Focal Nova Utopia, where the bottom 3 octaves have progressively higher output as you go down and got the bass amp into thermal shutdown. It got horrendously hot and now sounds tubby and makes crackling noises when the fans turn on. Visit to the tech awaits a call back for a time slot on the bench.

This is a 2kw/ch @4 ohms linear power amp - Crown 5002VZ. Since it is the amp that went in this confrontation about excessive bass then rest assured your maggies are safe so long as the bass amp is not connected to the midrange or tweeter.

There is a reason that the bass has no fuse.
