I purchased a Crown amp recently having heard good press and within a couple of weeks, took advantage of the seller's return policy.
Power they have. Refinement they do not. Just like in the past. I owned a D150 amp myself back in the 70s driving double Advents. A later Audire amp was much better sounding.
As for the DC-300a, it was just fine driving the woofer sections of a TIII system I heard back in '74 that sounded incredible. The tweeter and midrange sections, however, were driven with Audio Research D76 amps.
If your primary buying criteria is playing loudly, they work just fine. :)
