Thanks, Satie. You know, I was worried by the weight thing. Still am, in fact, even if tonight's initial experiment seems to have gone better than expected.
In a few minutes I am going to try and measure what I tuned by ear this evening. Yet, the box -- standing on its smallest area (6x14) -- may have pressed just well enough without even spikes. I seem to have gotten the desired extra bass extension, lost no textures, brought no artifacts and gained no boomines. For a "first crack" it seems like too good to be true.
Of course, wishful thinking is a great audio tweak, ain't it, LOL!
