another vote here for the REL Strata II to go along with MMGs

picked one up online used for $450 just to see how it could contribute with my MMGs. Not that they (MMGs) won't do bass, they will . In fact they'll provide you (along with a good amp) nice, "sub-floor" bass, but what I was looking for was good, solid, "basement bass".
Used solely for two channel music, initial findings reveal an extremely quick sub that adds just enough impact where it's needed. With it's 60 watt amp (which can be bypassed) it's more than enough to fill my 18x19 room. Granted, we're not talking rafters shaking or ripples in the bathtub; just good, "lean" bass that won't distract you from the MMGs. When cranked, they'll give you that "slamm" you so desire -with lightning speed.
