I don't think you will have a problem with the 1090, the speaker will cave well before the amp does. To be on the safe side put a thermometer on it to be sure that it is not getting unduly warm in operation while playing music and test the fins to make sure they don't get more than warm to the touch.

Rotel do suggest using this amp on speakers down to 2 ohms and the burst tests are very good down to 1 ohm. They didn't test the amp at 2 ohms because the manufacturer does not provide a spec. there.

That said, the CLS does not play very loud so don't expect party levels out of it.
