I am sorry but the presence of output is not the same as actual useful and presentable output.
That is why professional speaker and other HiFi companies will specify frequency output within +- 3db from average output.
I do not believe You were -3db down from average when You just barely heard 34Hz out of that speaker.
Did You do a sound analyze with frequency/db plot?
Ears are so easy to fool, a calibrated microphone is not.
The one who succeeded was the one who didn't know it was impossible.
