RE: Maggies & Rythmik Audio Subs in the Joplin, Mo area

Good sealed subs and the open baffle + EQ amp (GR research) are the best solutions. Servo amps powering bass towers are excellent too. But it is hard to compete with planar bass given enough surface, sidewall reinforcement and ample power.

I get bass that is competitive with such bass masters as the Focal Nova Utopia. They go lower and have more output - and thus slam - than my Tympani, but the bass quality is on the Tympani's side for tightness and articulation/ With sidewall reinforcement, a 2kw/ch amp and bracing it is not that far behind in extension, output and slam.
