I have heard Quad ESL63 and I was totally impressed. They were fantastic speakers that have the nod as far as detail over the Acoustat. BUT, the Quads were much more delicate than the Acoustats. You get get to some ear splitting levels on the Acoustats that just cannot happen on the Quads before shutdown or damage...There are also tons of mods you can do to the Acoustat interfaces to get closer to the magic of the Quads as far as "presence". But the Quads cannot go as deep (actually, I have yet to hear any Full Range ESL - let alone very high end Soundlabs - that can go deeper than Acoustats on bass - 3 panels or more).
All in all, if they made Quads as indestructible as Acoustats, I (and many others) would just have them and be done. But simply not possible.
