RE: Quad 405/606/909 vs Arcam Alpha series vs NAD vs other for Quad ESL 57

Yes I agree the Quad amp are OK for sure, but in direct comparison to a MOSFET transistor amp (even cheap ones such as those from Arcam Alpha series) the 606 sounds a bit coarse and grainy in the treble in my opinion.

I prefer the sound of tube amps too. Sounds more like real music. I usually prefer the bass of transistor amps though, but you can't have everything I guess!
