Though I myself like, recommend and even use some Denon AVR receivers with some Maggies, the AVR-3300 in NOT one of them. It dates from a manufacturing design that used flimsy power supplies. Low impedance may burn the unit if its protection system fails.OTOH, a NAD 2400PE is a little beast, if a bit aged. I have the even older 2200PE. The power is there (quite a bit despite its power rating) but the old parts cannot do as refined a job as they may have in the past. Still, if I dusted and ran my 2200PE for a few days of break-in, it would fool folks...punchy bastard that it is.
Still, at this stage you should not have to force a purchase if you can borrow a half-decent amp to test the Maggies. This way you can find out what the next needed expense should be. This may be "fix Maggies" or, happily "feed them more/better power" with a good power amp.
