Because of your dislike of the Beveridge crossover, you may not like my suggestion, but here it is, based on my own experience. You could as Roger Modjseki, of Music Reference, for a pair of the subwoofers he uses with his own ESL system. You may be aware the he worked with Beveridge in the past. I use a pair with my Stax F83's, along with an electronic crossover also supplied by Roger. The latter is marked "Beveridge RM-3 Universal Crossover", and I think it is fine. It helped get the bass frequencies out of my amplifier and speakers, and this was as much of a help as getting the extra bass extension and tonality from the woofers. Of course, your opinion might be different. Was this the same crossover you tried? I think it is 24 db per octave, and provides the necessary equalization to make the woofers work properly. The woofers are small, fast, and musical but not super deep or loud.
