I see no reason why it shouldn't work. They already have the perfect anchoring points - just invert them.
That difficult two year old behavior doesn't last terribly long, and it's a critical part of their social development. I applaud your solution. Just be certain to anchor the speakers in the ceiling properly (and well out of reach). You don't want your solution turning sour.
If I'm not mistaken, we have a member who has done it. If it's the person I think it is, I respect his opinion, which was that it worked very well. Over the years of owning Maggies, I've discovered that they work in a wide variety of setups.
