RE: IIIa vs 3.6r

I have owned both. The 3.6 that I had were not the 'r' version, but they sounded better (fuller) than the IIIa.
I kept both. The 3.6 for the fronts and the IIIa in the rear for home theater. In a home theater environment Maggies work well together.
