IIIa vs 3.6r

I'm curious what the audible difference between the two is from people who've owned both. I have IIIa's right now, lightly modded. Considering 3.6r's. It would have to be a pretty big step up to justify it though. 95% of my listening is movies, and my room doesn't (or at least I won't) accommodate moving them too far out in the room.

If I upgraded to 3.6r's, what would I notice?
