RE: Anyone used Sanders Magtech (Stereo or Mono) or Gilmore Raptors (besides Al) with their 20 series, esp 20.1 ???

Hi.

I heard Al's raptors and his setup and I would buy the raptors without hesitation. They were that good in his setup. I almost did buy their 6 channel amp but it was just too much compared to what a pair of Parasound A21s cost.

What surprised me the most was the warmth he had in his system. It wasnt like that tubey syrupy sound but it was very warm if it was in the recording. I was expecting the ribbons to have more of a sterile sound with a digital amp, but man was I wrong. Kendra shank was so warm and beguiling.

I know that he went to great lengths to fight rf and certainly that is a must with maggies.

What I find interesting is his journey. He started with bryston, used OTLs for a while and then ended up with the gilmores. Coming from tubes to class d says something...staying with the raptors says even more.

Anyhow, here is a post you might find useful where he kind of compares the 2. There are others if you search under his moniker and Sanders.
