Looking at Maggie measurements and historical Apogee measurements its clear which speaker line has a sharper resonance and at more critical frequencies; hint it isn't Apogees. The 1.6 and 3.6 both have strong High Q resonance modes at relatively high frequencies that are likely to strongly interact with room resonance modes. Maybe the really big Tympanis were different by shifting the frequency low enough to avoid the worst of the problems...like the apogees but generally they will have a "one note" tendency, whereas the Apogees are clearly a lower Q more distributed resonance (clearly seen in the Diva, which has outstanding bass quality).
