Be sure to let it run awhile before committing to your impressions. Because this amp runs so cool it takes a number of hours to reach its optimal operating temperature. I noticed a much cleaner sound on day 2. Achieving this is more important than other types of break in waiting periods. Even at optimal temperature it is barely warm. As beefy as my old Mac amp was, it ran a lot hotter than the Magtech. I have left it turned on 24x7 since last October, the only down time was upgrading the power cord.
I turn my preamp on and off however to save the tubes. I just lower the gain all the way down on the preamp and I get no complaint from the amp when I power it back on. The tubes only need 5-10 minutes to maximize their sound. My listening sessions always exceed that.
