RE: Fine exercise but instead...

I read today somewhere that delaying the high pass output as you suggest makes it possible to integrate a dynamic woofer with an electrostatic mid without seeming to slow things down. I'm skeptical, but the claim did arouse my curiosity.

I don't think I've seen a commercial analog crossover that had an all-pass filter built in. The guy who made the claim used a Behringer. Also, I wonder whether adding an allpass filter would do more sonic harm than good. But you might want to take a look at Linkwitz's site, somewhere he provides the schematics for an active all-pass filter for use in group delay audibility experiments. I don't remember the details, whether it used op amps or was discrete.

What we really need is a digital lowpass filter with an advance line . . .
