Before you dismiss the OPs observation with condescending speculative psychobable, consider that it is possible that biwiring actually did help as he described.
1. by removing the lousy shorting strip/jumper.
2. increasing the amount of wire = heavier gauge
3. increasing surface area - which is lacking in the speltz cable
4. fresh contact surface is created by friction of inserting connectors.
5. the biwire set is probably better than the old single wire set.
And these are just the first factors to come to mind. Besides which biwiring has a benefit of its own even taking out these factors.
