Off white has significantly greater WAF since they are more like decorative screens.

IMO big black speakers belong in your basement man cave. If you are going to have Maggies in an upstairs living room or den you should strive for a more attractive color scheme. An interior decorator might be able to offer some good suggestions to make your Maggies more appealing to your wife.
