The metal frame edge and pole piece can be painted with satin black krylon spray paint. Use that not rustoleum because it takes forever to cure. If you spray the pole piece do so at a slight angle so the paint doesn't fly directly thru the holes, and apply lightly. If you spray the frame edge use card stock to prevent overspray from landing on the mylar.
