That gonzo guy said "When the going gets tough, the tough turn pro" , so I bought this old space heater/arc welder/amp from a local music center. This weighs 52 lbs & looked like it saw many a gig. I got it home , opened it up for a good vacuum/ air pressure blow out. Everything
looked OK, so I took the time to swap out the old 10000 uF filter caps, using 27000 uF cans that fit the same 2 inch mounts. I removed the fan( yeah, it was noisy) I checked for DC offset at the terminals, installed 4 amp fuses on the speaker negative teminals( I know, but I'm not sure about this old beast.) So,my initial impression is Wow!! I don't think it's the cleanest up high, but the bass & mids are really something! I'm going to do some creative duct work & run a fan in the room behind my gear, that should take care of the noise. I should replace / bypass the 'lytics & install some RCA jacks. This thing may end up powering a pair of subs , but it should do a real good job with that! I'll do some needed cosmetic improvements on my SKA 150D this winter. I'l post a picture soon, but it's not much to look at!
