FAB1 ,

I put my MGII's into wood frames . They were as you described , the drivers were mounted to a steel frame . I simply removed the driver from the steel frame , and built wooden frames to fit the drivers.

I used piano wire and two pair of vise-grips to cut the glue that bonded the driver to the steel frame . It can be done , and the end results were well worth it to me .
