AudioKinesis SWARM: The Ideal Sub System?

I've just spent my first really long listening session with Duke LeJeune's Planetarium Betas, which consists of bipolar main speakers and the SWARM subwoofer system. The latter is a set of 4 comparatively small units driven by a Class D 1000 watt amp. So, why am I posting this in the Planar forum?

Many of you know that my last speakers were the SoundLab A-1PX. I recently sold them for financial reasons. I knew that Duke was not only a SoundLab dealer, but that he designs his speakers to emulate some of the best characteristics of those full range 'stats. I decided to take advantage of an offer of a demo pair of the Planetarium Betas.

More background: I have owned Maggies in the past, have owned both the M-L CLS (quite a number of years ago) and the Quad ESL-63, and have heard Asylum member Travis' 3.6s (now departed) at some length. We all know how difficult it can be to integrate a sub system with any or all of the above. After hearing the quality and quantity of bass produced by the SWARM, I suggest that it may be the ideal subwoofer system for any high quality, but deep bass-shy, speaker.

After considerable fiddling with the placement of the sub units and with the controls on the amp, I'm now experiencing the best low to mid bass that I've ever heard anywhere. Just like virtually every other 'normal' room, mine has some pretty distinct bass nodes, most notably at about 45 Hz. I had tamed these somewhat with a fair number of Real Traps. These are now entirely superfluous. I initially thought that bass was missing - until a really deep note came along. After more listening, it became very clear that what was missing was the constructive interference of the room. The SWARM works exactly as advertised. There's no reason to go on. I would simply suggest that anyone wishing to vastly improve their listening experience at comparatively low cost should look into the possibility of acquiring the SWARM.

Disclaimer: I have no relationship with Duke LeJeune or AudioKinesis other than that of EXTREMELY satisfied customer.
