So the side bracing and solid base offers no audible benefits?

If that is true, why bother adding such? Are Grant Mye's stands also just cosmetic?

I assure you that the added rigidity of the steel frames on my U-1s do improve the bass response vs. the models with the same core that use wooden frames.
