24.2.3.193
I currently have the Magnepan 3.3 speakers and was using an McIntosh MC352 to power them. I recently bought a pair of Odyssey Stratos Monoblocks (180 watt version), and what a difference these have made. First off the Odysseys seem to bring more life and presence to the music whether it be orchestral, vocal, or instrumental. There just seems to be a more natural atmosphere to the music. I haven't experienced any "running out of steam" as of yet. Amazingly enough the treble frequencies are definitely more clearly presented, but contrary to the McIntosh I haven't experienced any listening fatigue, which I was most worried about. There is also a more authoritative grip on the bass panels than I had previously experienced, which may account for the lack of listening fatigue (my reasoning being that all the frequencies are blended better so no one area in the sound spectrum stands out and becomes annoying. I'm not saying that I don't like McIntosh equipment, but these amplifiers seem to just fit better in my system. So anyone who is looking for a amplifier to power there maggies, I would like to give my nod to Odyssey Monoblocks.
Just a side note:
My system setup is:
Marantz SA8001 cd player
PS3 for Blurays
Integra DTC 9.8 processor
Kimber Kable 4TC speaker wire
Audioquest Interconnects
2 Richard Gray 400 pros for power conditioning.
