I know that one-eyed s.o.b. PG will disagree with me but ...

IMO, if your room is big enough ... go for the IIIas. They will give you better bass (as they're much bigger! :-)) ) and, again IMO, the true ribbon is something special ... although Mart, PG and several others on this Forum disagree!! :-))

But how big is your room? I would have thought to get the best out of IIIas, you need to have at least, say, 20'long x 15'wide x 9'high. Any smaller and MMGs will do just as good a job! :-))

The other issue is, as you say, "hassle". From my experience with my own IIIas over 15 years, you need to do a lot to them to get them to deliver the sound which they are capable of. If you *don't* do this then a pair of MMGs - particularly with PG's "going over" - will probably deliver just about as much.
