Maggie 20.1 with 2 Amplifiers

I'm about to buy a pair of 20.1's and don't think I've got the right single amplifier to drive them. I've got a Wolcott S-220, which is a stereo amp running EL34's at 125wpc and can handle difficult loads, and I've got a Odysee Stratos dual mono 180wpc solid state amp. I'm guessing that neither is enough to drive the maggies, so I'd like to use both to drive them. I also have a Bryston 10B sub active Xover, that has fixed Xover frequencies of 40-100 (in steps of 10), 200, 250, 300 and 400 with selectable slopes of 6, 12 and 18 db/octave.

So my questions are these:

1) Is it correct to assume I should use both amps until I get a single amp that can run the 20.1's on its own (e.g. VTL 450 or Edge).

2) Can I use the Bryston for active biamping? Are the 20.1's set up to biamp between the bass (Odysee Stratos) and the mid and high (Wolcott). If so, what Xover frequency should I use?

3) What is this I hear about "passive biamping". This uses two amplifiers but still uses the Xover of the speaker. Can someone explain?

Thanks very much. I'm looking forward to moving up from my Quad 988's (which are good) to the dynamic presentation of the Maggies.

Peter
