RE: Current requirements with K&K shunt regulator

It's certainly possible that you are correct. The only guideline I can suggest is to pick a starting point and increase the current in reasonably sized increments while listening for a sonic "plateau". The only parallel experience I have is with a CCS loaded triode, where I went through this same procedure and discovered to my pleasure that more current improved the sound until the stage reached a sonic plateau. So much for the "ultrahigh" PSRR of the cascode CCS and its isolating effect on the sound. :+)
