Disconnect one "end" of the CCS from the circuit and use an outboard DC power supply to pass curent through it and your DVM in series on the DC current setting. If you can vary the voltage above about 10VDC and the current remains stable, then it is still acting as a CCS. If not, then you most likely have toasted a MOSFET.
