You won't have a problem with the Basic Step-Up Kit and the Wright phono preamp. The WPP100C is very noisy with the gain cranked up to 65dB. By turning down the gain and using the SUT, you reduce the noise to a non-intrusive level. I would leave the SUt connected as it is when you receive it and then adjust the preamp gain to get what you need out of the combination with your cartridge in your system. And don't forget to optimize the cartridge load, too.
