You can get the LL1663 more-or-less gapped for whatever current you want. The current level specified is defined in the datasheet. There is not really a performance "cliff" to fall off of in that sense. If you run a transformer designed for 50mA at 60mA of bias current, it will not deliver as much power at a given distortion level as it would run at a bias current of 50mA, all other things being equal. I'm not sure the difference would be a big deal, but it's there.
