Hi bequerel,
First, be very careful switching that capacitor. I found out the hard way that switching hot can destroy the MOSFETs in the CCS. Make sure that the power is off and the supply discharged before switching the capacitor.
From memory, it has been quite a while and a lot of the grey cells have turned into grey hair, the best sounding configuration was with the capacitor connected to the cathode. With that configuration I had to add a small (470nF) bypass capacitor across the cathode resistor.
The DC operating point of the tube is the same for both configurations, but the AC characteristics are different.
