Yes, you can make what ever incremental upgrades you want as you can afford or are motivated to implement them.

The MM gain is 2dB lower than the Maxxed-Out MM gain due to the greater step down ratio of the LL1930 output transformer.

I gotta say that I am still listening to the prototype Basic Phono Preamp and loving it. I installed a pair of LL9206s and now have the MC version up and rocking. As soon as all of the parts are here, we'll be ready to ship them.
