K&K Audio / Lundahl Transformers

Thanks Kevin for your response.. The lightweight sound is definitely due to...

Improper cartridge loading.

The Benz Glider was sounding excellent with my now departed Audio Research PH3 phono stage. This with the standard 47 k ohm loading (no extra loading resistors added). Bass was full and musical.

It was after I tried hooking it up to my Marantz 7 directly, that I experienced the thinness of sound.

In your experience, what brands of MC cartridges do you recommend for the K&K Step-Up kit?

I was thinking of sticking with the Benz line because of their generous trade-up policy.

However, I might consider other alternatives. The cartridge must be medium mass arm compatible. My turntable is a VPI Scout with JMW-9 arm.

Thanks again!
