In the past I have often used scrap #12 romex and tore out the individual conductors and used these for "buss bars". I am remodeling my home and have rewired about 60-80% of it. So I have a lot of romex on hand and lots of scrap. The scrap makes itself useful for these things.

It is a royal PITA to solder with a 40w iron and I don't even try with my nice solder station. You have to heat it for a long time and pre-tin. I don't have solder pot yet, so I make do with what I have but you have to be patient.
