Well, the problem with Fremer's application is that the cartridge he was using seemed to have an atypically high output for a nominal 0.5mV unit. I had tested the preamp with a 0.9mV cartridge and used that as my design upper level for MC. In any case, both the revised Vinyl Reference and Maxxed-Out Kit have adjustable MC transformer and electronic gain, so there is now no circumstance where such a result would ever have to be tolerated. It is not an issue.
