K&K Phono matching to high output MC

I have a VPI Scoutmaster with the JMW Signature Arm and VPI/Dynavector 20X special mid output MC 1.0 mV. I am considering a K&K Maxxed Out Kit.

I read Mike Fremer's review of the Art Audio Vinyl Reference, he indicated that the 0.5 mV Lyra Titan cartridge produced a bright, hard, compressed, mildly distorted sound. He cautioned the use of high output cartridges into the stock 63 db gain input. My Dynavector is 1.0 mV output so is the K&K a good match. I would like to have the flexibility of adjustable gain for the future for either high output or low output cartridges.
