What a coincidence! I am planning to use my Squeezebox 3 (modified) as my main transport ;o) I am aware of the Empirical Pacecar and it’s a very interesting concept, I would love to hear your verdict when you have your RAKK DAC mkII with active OP stage + Squeezebox + Pacecar combination.
It sounds like you will have a very nice system indeed, I have decided (due to budget constraints) to go for the Bolder cable digital modification for my Squeezebox 3, I have heard some very good things about Wyne at bolder and the performance he manages to (excuse the pun) squeeze out of the Squeezebox.
The RAKK DAC mkII sounds so effortless spacious sweet and musical with tight well defined bass, every strand of complex passages are fully resolved separate and clear from each other, I am VERY IMPRESSED with this dac and I am excited at the prospect of even higher sound quality when I add the Active OP stage.
Chase your dream and make it reality :O)
