It seems that common USB-I2S interfaces are based on PCM270x DAC, that is limited to 48 Khz and 16 bits. TAS1020B supports 96Khz/24bits or even 192/24 but it requires some programming. We have also to think about external clocking, since jitter test on other USB devices are really bad (please refer to http://www.diyhifi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=432 )Moreover we have to buffer the USB, otherwhise we can run out of data

I think that an outstanding USB to I2S (or SPDIF) interface is quite difficult to implement... I'll try to study it a bit further.
