Thank you, glassbottle for your insight, I am glad to have "stimulated" this clear response. As I said, I am far from thinking that "new" is necessarily good (and I don't doubt that you agree with me on that), or why would there be so many 300Bs and Western Electric circuits on the market.
My statement was in response to the generality that could have been understood from your previous message. I think your present reply will seriously convince the passing web viewer, and I am happy that my message allowed you to so respond.
There is no reason why a passing observer, or even an audiophile, as myself would know the background to Kevin's development. It does need to be spelt out clearly. It must also be said that many of us DIYers also build our hifi as a labour of love, and definitely for the love of music, but we also have to make a leap in the dark when we buy kits. We have no way of trusting our ears. It can only be through the hearsay of others.
In this respect, we do need to be free to ask any question, and make statements that may appear "strange" to those of you with inside knowledge.I would be using my ears right now, but my project is going to take a few more days.
Even as a retired person. I have to interrupt my soldering and leave the kitchen occasionally to my dear wife. Yes, a flat in Paris is not the ideal context for a DIYer.
Regards
Anthony
