Thanks for the post Arend-Jan! Your observations are similar to mine for the sound of mu metal (permalloy, high nickel, etc.) small signal transformers vs. cobalt amorphous core small signal transformers. If you were to use the LL1674 connected 1:8 I think that you would find an improvement in the bass fill, although you would, of course, lose about 7dB of output level.
