One more input switcher question

I'm looking at all the parts. The DPDT switch has 6 lugs and the rcas have one in the middle and one on the sides. I assume the middle on the rca goes to the switch and the side one on the rcas are - or ground. Do the sides need to be hooked up? Or is it just the center lug.
Sorry if this is so elementary. I'm really excited to learn all this so I can build something more complicated!
