Hi allI am currently designing a driver stage for my first scratch build amp and would like to use the K&K mosfet CCS. I have had no experience with CCS and would greatly appreciate it if someone could let me know whether my thinking is correct.
To design the driver stage to accommodate the CCS:
1. Select approximate driver operating points per normal and derive the cathode R and required plate V (as per normal).
2. Add approx 20% to the required plate V to allow enough B+ V for current source operation.
3. The CCS replaces what would normally be the plate R; the cathode bypass C can be eliminated; the cathode R stays per normal. When testing, adjust the variable R on the CCS to get the correct plate V for the stage.
Am I close, or way off track?
Kind regards
Ray
