Charles,With the existing output transformer, you can't rewire for 1:1. In fact, if I recall correctly this late in the evening, you couldn't even do so by substituting an LL1676. You could, however, if you hooked up an LL1676 "backwards". It would take some rigging, but could be done.
My advice is to finish it as-is and make sure it works as advertised, then proceed on the course that you fancy with whatever help you need from us.
