Hi Bas,Maybe I am a little slow today but I can't make sense about your post. Are you connecting a TVC in parallel with the line stage? And what is this switching in and out?
I would find it interesting if you were to place the TVC on the input. An easy experiment would be to leave the existing transformer there only to provide a path to ground for the grid and connect the secondary of the TVC in place of the volume control pot. Bring the input signal into the input of the TVC.
