Hi,Which AKM DAC chip does the DCX2496 use? Is it the AK4620A? And is there op-amp circuitry between the DAC output and the output jacks?
The answers to those questions will help me answer your questions 1 and 2.
The answer to question 3 is "yes." Assuming that we can work out an appropriate solution to your first two questions, the output of the transformer is inherently balanced. Connecting one side of the output to ground will provide an unbalanced output.
