Well I always find it difficult to tell in words how an apparatus is sounding. All three DAC's wich I mentioned are not bad at all and are in my possession. In short: the AudioNote DAC is very smooth; the AckDAC has a bit more detail than the AudioNote DAC but is a little less smooth. The RAKKDAC has even a little more details and air than the AckDAC and besides that it is also very smooth and natural sounding. With the RAKKDAC wood is more sounding like wood, brass is more sounding like brass etc..
So the RAKKDAC is the clear winner for me. In the near future I want to build a TentLabs XO-3 in my Teac CD-transport and want to make use of a "Tent-Link"-configuration. (For details look at: www.TentLabs.com).
