Of course all the computer stuff and USB chip are going to be creating noise which WILL get coupled into the DAC, BUT they are not correlated to the audio signal like the noise from a S/PDIF PLL. Ideally we could get rid of it all, but I would rather have the uncorrelated jitter from the USB/computer than the correlated jitter from the S/PDIF interface.As a test of this I'm going to try an experiment where I take a sound card which has a DAC running off I2S on the board and send the I2S to my DAC with no S/PDIF anywhere near and try that with and without the reclocker. That should give a pretty good hint as to which is more of a problem, S/PDIF or computer jitter.
